Donate those books!

The Friends are calling on local residents to donate gently used books and AV materials in preparation for the upcoming book sale. Instead of letting your unneeded items take up space and collect dust in your home, drop them off at the Chestertown branch of the Kent County Library, located at 408 High Street.

Books are reviewed and sorted, some added to the collection and the majority sold at the Friends book sales. Proceeds for the sale of these items support Library projects in all three branches.

Sale announced

The renovations are all but wrapped up at the Chestertown branch, which means that book donations to the Friends are  now being accepted. We also have just announced our upcoming book sale. Visit here for details. Looking forward to seeing you there.

2009 Membership Drive Continues

February is “Library Lover’s Month,” and it’s a great time to show your love for the local library by joining or renewing your membership with the Friends of the Library. Your support can help continue the legacy of library excellence in Kent County. Annual membership dues cost $10.00 for a single membership, and $20.00 for a family. If you donate $50.00, you will receive a free book bag or t-shirt.
As a member of the Friends, you will enjoy a Members Preview Night to kick off each of our book sales, an invite to  the annual cocktail party, and the option of taking on a rewarding volunteer opportunity. The yearly membership period runs January through December. The Friends is a 501(c)3 non profit organization, and contributions are tax deductible to the extent of the law.
Last year the Friends raised and donated $20,000 to benefit the library and enhance its programs! Help make 2009 another great year for the Kent County Public Library. Stop by the circulation desk of any Kent County branch to pick up an application and join today, or call (410) 778-3636 for more information.

HAPPY, BIRTHDAY FRIENDS!

2008 marks the 35th anniversary of the founding of the Friends of the Kent County Library.

WHAT’S NEW–THIS SITE AND TRAVEL BOOKS…

Greetings and welcome to the friends! Let us know if you have any comments or questions about this site by clicking the GET INVOLVED link and leaving a comment. There’s news on the book front, too: the fact is planning a trip using the Internet is more time consuming and less reliable than picking up a well-researched, handy collection of tourist tips that you can find in a traditional travel guidebook. So before you take off for your next excursion, stop by the Kent County Library to check out the large, brand spanking new, up-to-date collection of travel books.
